FND (correction codes), IIC   | Ted Colclough | October 2nd, 2001

Hi all,

Can anyone recommend a book on the analysis of spoken language, especially with regard to the terminology used to describe different conversational acts?

OK, that's it. Best wishes to you all,

Ted

In response to Ted:

One book that has served me well as an introduction to discourse is Martin Bygate's "Speaking," published by OUP.

Re: IIC | John Bartrick | October 3rd, 2001

Hi Richard and all,

My vote for a highly readable overview goes to Hutchby, I. and Wooffitt, R. 1998: Conversation Analysis: Principles, Practices, and Applications. Oxford: Blackwell.

All the best,

John
