assignment ideas
Re: EMT module | Francesca | January 6th, 2002
Hi Marinus and a happy 2002 to all,
I recently completed the educational management module and enjoyed it (more than I did the TDA one as a matter of fact, which goes to show that everything depends on the individual's perspective). As for my assignment, I was somewhat limited by the fact that I work alone. I had two ideas, the first being to write about my vision for the future of my business and plan the strategies I could use to implement it. The tutor liked this idea but thought it was wide for the scope of an assignment and that it would be hard to incorporate the opinions of others in the research.
The second idea, which I followed through, was to take a course of mine and benchmark a similar product given by a competitor using the seven p's of the marketing mix (unit 6 page 6) as a reserach framework. I interviewed the director of studies from one competing school about his Cambridge Proficiency course and an ex-student of another competitor about their course to get two different perspectives. My questions were based around the seven p's (price; place; product; people; promotion; people and process). I used the information gained to help me analyze my own product and identify it's strengths and weaknesses with the intention of making changes to improve quality. I found the assignment both interesting and highly useful to me professionally. Using a framework for analysis was a great help as was my tutor at the stage of deciding what to do.
Why not brainstorm several possible ideas and then send them to her for an initial reaction?
Write and tell me what you decide to do and good luck,
Francesca
